Spotlight on a Special Charity: Home of the Sparrow
March 16, 2018
One of the joys and fulfillments we have here at McKee Builders is being able to support so many incredible charitable organizations. Our success means that we can give back to our community, helping those who are less fortunate.
Among the charities that we support is Home of the Sparrow, a non-profit organization in Chester County, Pennsylvania, that helps women and children facing or experiencing homelessness.
This incredible organization’s mission is to partner with women facing homelessness to secure housing, achieve long-term stability, and chart new paths for their futures. They accomplish this by providing women with resources for education, job training, social services, and health services via a network of other non-profits and government agencies. More than a mere “handout”, Home of the Sparrow builds women’s strength, confidence, and life skills, and puts them in control of their lives, which greatly improves their ability to face challenges in the future.
Chester County is the wealthiest county in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, yet hundreds of women and children in the county are devastated by poverty and insecurity. Obviously, as homebuilders, the McKee Builders team finds the idea of homeless women and children unacceptable. It is our great privilege to be able to support the mission of Home of the Sparrow in any way we can. We have helped renovate buildings for their clients; we have donated furniture from our model homes for their residences. And we are one of the corporate sponsors for their annual fundraising gala. This year’s event, Enchanted Woodlands, will be held on June 9th at The Phelps School in Malvern. There will be dinner, music and dancing, as well as live and silent auctions.
