Remy’s Picks: Pumpkin Treats

November 6, 2019

‘Tis the season… for pumpkin! Whether you stick to a tried-and-true pie recipe or are thinking of whipping up something new, any kind of pumpkin dessert on Thanksgiving spreads happiness around the table. But Remy has a fun fact for you: did you know that fresh and canned pumpkin is also incredible for a dog’s health? This tasty and festive fruit (yes, pumpkin is a fruit!) is an extremely nutritious addition to your furry friend’s meal.

Pumpkin For Your Best Pal

If your pet is having stomach issues, a bit of fresh or canned pumpkin added to their bowl can work wonders. With high fiber content and vitamins and minerals, everyone’s favorite fall food can ease digestion and alleviate irritation. Add about 1 to 4 tablespoons of pumpkin to your dog’s meal, but do not use canned pumpkin pie, as that contains a toxic ingredient to dogs called xylitol.

Festive and Fun Pumpkin Recipes

Looking to mix up your dessert table this holiday season? Below are a few of our favorite non-pie recipes packed with pumpkin goodness:

Pumpkin Cheesecake Bars with Caramel Swirl: With a delicious chocolate crust and irresistable homemade caramel throughout, this handheld, decadent dessert will be gobbled up immediately.

Pumpkin Crisp: Crunchy and smooth all at once, pumpkin pie as a crisp will truly melt your heart. Pro tip: this delicious treat is best served with classic vanilla ice cream.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Bread: Of course, it’s no surprise that adding chocolate to anything pumpkin-flavored takes the dessert to a whole new level. Moist and simple, this bread will be an instant fan favorite.

Warm Pumpkin Cake: Who says cake can’t also have a spot at the table this Thanksgiving? This warm, soft cake is loaded with the pumpkin-spice flavors you can’t get enough of.

Pumpkin Whoopie Pies: These delectable delights deserve to be enjoyed by all ages… Go ahead and recreate fond memories of childhood with the little ones in your family. They’re almost as fun to make as they are to eat!

Pumpkin Chip Cookies: What do you get when you put the festive flavors of pumpkin pie into classic chocolate chip cookie form? Just about the greatest dessert of all time…

From all of us at McKee Builders, happy pumpkin season!
