Remy’s Pick: Supporting Local Restaurants
April 16, 2020
Part of what makes living in a McKee Builders community so special are the bonds you form with the people around you (and furry friends like Remy, of course). But what’s so incredible is that those relationships aren’t just limited to your neighbors, but to those who run the local businesses that make your town so enjoyable.
From your favorite spot for pizza and drinks at sunset to the little shop where you know you’ll always find something special for someone else, local businesses bring endless joy into our daily lives. While you’re spending more time at home right now, there’s no better time to support the businesses that love you back!
Here are a few easy and effective ways to give back to the local businesses in your town:
Delivery and Pickup: Many restaurants and bars are still offering food delivery through services like Grubhub, DoorDash, and UberEats, as well as no-contact, curbside pickup options. Check out the websites of your favorite eateries and order a meal when you can. A few places are even offering to-go cocktails… which means happy hour at home just got so much more fun! Extra tips are especially helpful too
Social Media: In today’s digital world (and especially with everyone online at the moment), there’s no better way to show your love for your favorite local spot than by sharing something about it on social media. Have a favorite memory? Make a story on Instagram. Have a photo of a delicious meal? Share a post on Facebook. You can also help to put the spotlight on places like museums offering virtual tours and learning opportunities!
Online Services: From yoga studios to gyms, many businesses are now offering their services completely online. Take a look at their websites to see what kind of classes you can take from the comfort of your spacious home! You’ll love this unique way of staying active and supporting local businesses.
Purchase Gift Cards: This is especially helpful to restaurants and shops that can’t continue to operate at the moment. Purchasing a gift card for later use ensures that the business still has money coming in, and shows an incredible amount of support on your part. When you do get to use the gift card, it’ll be even more special.
From farmers markets and restaurants to theaters and museums, the places where you love to spend your time are just as eager as you to get back to business and connect with one another. In the meantime, do what you can to show your support and let them know how much they mean to you and your community!
