June 17, 2021
When it comes to the process of buying and building a home, having an incredible team on your side makes all the difference. We’re excited to introduce you to Rebeca Lacusky, who recently moved from Human Resources into the New Homes Coordinator role!
What do you love most about working at McKee Builders?
What I love the most about working here is the people. Everyone here really is a part of The McKee Group family, and as a family, we take care of each other. Even when taking on roles or projects that I do not have prior experience with, I always have several people that I can count on to help me and to collaborate with me. And because people here care about each other, you are commended for your efforts. Collaboration and appreciation are rare qualities for a company to uphold these days.
What do you wish other people knew about McKee Builders?
When I started working here, I thought I was just starting another job. But that was not the case. The environment and people at McKee Builders make you feel invested and a vital part of the company. McKee Builders cares about its customers and its employees. I’m fortunate to be able to say I LOVE MY JOB!
What inspires you and your work?
Knowing that I am helping a new homebuyer have a great experience inspires me to do the best job that I can.
Where did you grow up? Tell us about your family!
I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida, and have lived in West Chester, PA, for the last nine years. My family is CRAZY! My husband and I have four kids, ranging in ages from 28 to 12. We like to call our family the Lacookie Circus because there are always some insane shenanigans happening in our home, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
How do you spend your free time? What do you do to relax?
Free time? What is that? Didn’t I mention the four kids? I love to travel and especially spend time in the Florida Keys. I love doing things with my family and friends. And to relax, I enjoy lying on the couch, reading a book with my pups.
What would someone be surprised to know about you?
I love chocolate so much that I named my youngest child after my favorite chocolate candy, Reese.
Tell us about someone you admire.
I cannot just name one because I am fortunate to have three very influential people in my life. The three people I admire the most in my life are my parents and my husband. My parents were Cuban immigrants who came to this country in the late ’50s with absolutely nothing. My mother came by herself, a single woman with no family here, who did not even speak the language. My father came just before Castro closed the doors in Cuba, leaving behind a career, life, and family. They met in Miami years later, worked extremely hard, and built a beautiful life full of opportunities for me.
I admire my husband for a similar reason. He has always worked hard to build an amazing life for our children and me. And like my parents, he believes and lives by the motto that we have to work hard so we can play even harder.
