McKee Breaks Ground on Bay Bridge Cove
Nearly 100 people came out to witness a milestone moment on Kent Island—the Sept. 17th groundbreaking at Bay Bridge Cove, a 55+ Clubhouse community that was over a decade in the making. Local officials, community supporters and prospective residents joined the staff of McKee Builders in celebrating the occasion.
The ceremonial groundbreaking was done by Maryland State Senator Adelaide C. Eckhardt, along with Frank J. McKee, Sr. who conceived the original vision for this community, and Mick Kenney, vice president of New Homes for McKee Builders. The ceremony officially opened the community for sale and marked the first time that McKee Builders was accepting home reservations.
“Interest in this community was so great leading up to the opening that we thought the fairest way to offer homesite locations was through a lottery,” said Frank McKee, Jr. “Homebuyers drew numbers for a position in line to determine who had the first choice, the second choice, and so on. Eleven buyers vied for the opportunity, each of whom was thrilled to realize their dream of home ownership in this spectacular lifestyle community.”Guests also enjoyed live music, a complimentary lunch from Shelly’s Sliders food truck, and tours of the outside of the homes under construction. A decorated model home is anticipated to be open in November.
“Today, we opened a new chapter in our history,” added McKee, Jr. “We’re ready to build the community that until now, has only been a beautiful vision. Now that we’ve broken ground, that vision is a reality. Kent Island homebuyers can look forward to 273 luxurious Villa homes and a wonderful luxury lifestyle.”
Lifestyle will be at the core of Bay Bridge Cove, and plans include a clubhouse, outdoor pool, bocce court, fitness center, billiards and card rooms and more. Like other McKee communities, the clubhouse serves as the hub, and there will be clubs and activities, social events and trips for homeowners.
Residents won’t have to worry about exterior maintenance; chores from leaf raking to mowing and snow shoveling are done by the community. Homes will feature two bedrooms and two baths, and will be single level, though homebuyers may choose to add a loft and additions off the back.
Bay Bridge Cove is located on the south side of Route 8, across from the Bay Bridge Airport. Homeowners will have easy access to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and are just 20 minutes from Annapolis, and a short drive to Easton, St. Michael’s and Chestertown, Md., and 50 minutes to either Baltimore, Md. or Washington, D.C. The community also is located just four minutes from area beaches, including a public beach where residents may take their dogs. Other area activities include fishing and sailing out of the Kent Island marinas, biking or walking, and shopping at the Queenstown Outlets.
Homes start in the low $300’s. To sign up for the VIP list to receive updates and more information, visit www.baybridgecove.com.
